Stroke: Stories of Self

Here is a short film I was commissioned to make about a creative project that happened at The University of Manchester in the summer of 2015. A group of stroke survivors worked with an artist to explore and express how their sense of identity had changed after stroke.

I saw a group of men and women finding a greater understanding and acceptance of themselves through art, but more than that they were forging a new sense of community and belonging.

They have had to deal with illness, loss and isolation, but observing them take part in this communal experience and in the supportive environment of their group was nothing but life affirming.
