Dementia Matters

I was commissioned by the Public Programmes Team at Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and The University of Manchester to produce a number of short videos for the Dementia Matters Toolkit.

The project aim of the project is to create a resource pack designed to support and develop young peoples’ understanding of dementia. The toolkit is currently being piloted by a number of secondary schools in Greater Manchester.

Experiences of Dementia

One of the lessons in the toolkit focuses on experiences of Dementia.

A Carer’s View

My interviewee Doreen who is currently caring for her partner Keith is frank about the reality of being a carer for someone with Parkinson’s Disease Dementia.

Through this project I became aware of the enourmous toll that being a carer can take on a person’s health and wellbeing.

A Scientist’s View

Dementia is not a natural part of aging. This is the first of the five facts the Alzeheimers Society thinks everyone should know about Dementia. In this clip Dementia Researcher, James Quinn describes the first time he saw an image of a brain in the final stage of dementia, and the impact it had on him.
